Location, Location, Location
Before we even began the process of designing the perfect cabin to suit a hunte's needs we set out to find the right piece of property with all of the attributes necessary to create a sportsman's paradise. Known to be an up and coming whitetail hunting hotspot, eastern Kansas caught our eye. The property we settled on includes 500 acres of varied terrain about an hour outside of Kansas City.
The property is made up of the following: plenty of forest cover, tillable land on about a quarter of the acreage, a year- round stream bisecting the property, a couple of good sized man made ponds and a number of protected pockets of open space to plant food plots. We also had a chance to get our hands on some great trail camera footage from the '09 season which captured some absolute bruisers already accessing the property. Designing a Dream
With the property selected our next step was to find the best partner to design our dream cabin. One of Original Log's partners, Ken Pieper, President of Ken Pieper and Associates, LLC, brought this dream to life with the design you see above. The layout includes four bedrooms, two full baths, an open area kitchen, dining and living space with vaulted ceilings as well as some unique attributes such as rough hewn logs supporting a spacious wrap around porch and a mix of both shingles and metal roofing for a modern twist.
